Lake Louise

Lake Louise is an amazingly beautiful place, but even at that by the time I was leaving (shortly after 9am) the car park was essentially full. If you want to lose the crowds, get there before dawn, or get a km or so off the beaten track. Monday 17th Aug 2009 Up before sunrise and headed down to lake louise. Got there just after sunrise (minutes) and got a timelapse going down on the boardwalk by the lake front. There were several people already there. The resort on the lake front, and some of the documentation I had got suggested that you had to get here early if you didnt like busy. Clouded in and I killed the timelapse and started to get the plane ready. The disaster.. looks like I had sat on (or similar) the aiptek and bust the screen. AGG! The only component of the system for which I dont have a replacement. SHITZA! Thought about it for a bit, tricky only places to get something were Banff and Calgary, both a significant detour, and even at that no guarantee of getting anything that would do the job (something portable with an AV in, the current device is all but obsolete). Eventually decided to take a strole down the side of the lake and fly the plane. The walk was exceptionally pleasant, and I lost all the people over the first few hundred meters. Flight on the alluvial fan at the top end of the lake was okay, but the valley was quite narrow, and rather nervy (lots of potential obstacles) all convoluted by the fact I didnt know for certain what the device was ...
